A device or software that allows to monitor multiple video signals at the same time, arranged in different-sized tiles (called PIPs) on a single monitor. This generated output is called the multiviewer head and the arrangement of PIPs along with other elements is called the layout. Other elements which can be displayed next to the PIPs or separate typically are various kinds of borders around the PIPs, audio meters, labels, text boxes, clocks, timers, tally indicators, and many more, depending on the make and model of the multiviewer. Is often abbreviated to just MV.
